About the Event
Mango is the national fruit of India, and in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, Alphonso reigns supreme as the leading cultivar. Known as the King of Fruits, India is the largest producer of mangoes globally, with Alphonso being the symbol of quality due to its unique flavor and longer shelf life. However, many farmers in Konkan lack direct market access, relying on middlemen who often exploit them. Consumers, on the other hand, pay high prices but rarely receive quality Alphonso mangoes. There is an urgent need to establish new market channels and educate both farmers and consumers about quality control.
The Mango Festival serves as a common platform for mango buyers and sellers, introducing new quality concepts in mango marketing. It helps small farmers ensure better processes for their quality produce. The main objectives are:
